DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to present both existing work and new commissions in the first solo exhibition in Wales\, and the first institutional solo exhibition in a decade\, by German born and New York based artist Josephine Meckseper. \nOne of the foremost female artists of her generation working today\, Meckseper’s work combines the aesthetic language of modernism with the formal languages of commercial display and advertising. In her shop window installations\, large-scale display sculptures and films\, she exposes the paradoxes of consumer culture through the combination of mass-produced objects with images and artefacts of historical and political events. \nAt the core of the exhibition will be a set of glass\, resin and steel sculptures\, along with two dimensional and film work.

Then a parade led by a jester and followed by scores of brave knights carrying flaming torches will proceed down the street through to the town square. There will be appropriate snacks such as chestnuts and other attractions. \nThe event takes place in this wonderful medieval town which is the ideal place to do something festive this Christmas season. \nConwy Winterfest is an exciting event organised by local business owners in the town of Conwy. With street entertainers\, musicians\, choirs\, Clerical Error Black Face Morris Dancers\, sword fighting on Lancaster Square\, hot chestnuts and much more. The fun starts on Saturday\, November 18\, when we’ll be switching on the lights in the Old Mill at 12pm – come and get a sneak preview of the decorations! \nElves’ Workshops will be on every Saturday and Sunday in the run-up to Christmas and this year we’ve got some extra treats\, in the shape of seasonal events. SUMMARY:WSAC - World Shore Angling Championships 2018 Llandudno\, Conwy County
DESCRIPTION:The Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers (WFSA)\, on behalf of Wales expressed an interest to the Fédération Internationale de Pêche Sportive – Mer (FIPS-Mer) – the governing body for Shore Angling\, to host the World Shore Angling Championships in Wales in 2018. \nThe World Shore Angling Championships is an annual event hosted by nations associated with FIPS-Mer – the World Governing Body for competitive sea angling. It governs 15 different World Championships annually across shore\, boat and big game angling specialties. \nPredominantly\, teams of seven\, made up of five Anglers\, one Reserve Angler\, and one Team Captain are selected by their host nation to represent that country and compete as part of the World Championships. They fish from the shoreline\, over five competition days\, on a catch and release basis. \nTraditionally teams travel to the host nation around a week before the competition is due to begin to get to know the area and recce the fishing spots. \nOther than the sporting element\, the event includes an Official Opening Ceremony welcoming the nations to the host country with a Press Conference; a Team Captain’s Meeting where a peg draw selects fishing spots for the competition and an Official Closing Ceremony where winners are awarded medals followed by dinner.

DESCRIPTION:Arrangements are underway for the UK Armed Forces Day event in Llandudno in June 2018. \nIt was announced in July that Conwy County Borough Council had been successful in its bid to host the prestigious event on behalf of Wales. \nThe event is supported by the Ministry of Defence\, together with the Welsh Government and Conwy County Borough Council. \nThe week-long event\, which culminates in Armed Forces Day itself on 30 June 2018\, will be located in and around Llandudno. \nArmed Forces Day 2018 will be held in the historic North Wales seaside town of Llandudno. The event\, which will also be the tenth Armed Forces Day\, will be supported by the Ministry of Defence\, together with the Welsh Government and Conwy Borough Council. \nEvents are to be held across the UK to mark Armed Forces Day\, as well as the national event in North Wales. \nDefence Minister for the Lords\, Earl Howe said: \n“Llandudno represents a superb venue for next year’s celebrations and I’m sure the town will bring together the whole nation in celebrating our Armed Forces. \n“Wales was the proud host of the national event in 2010 when thousands of people celebrated in Cardiff. The support from the Welsh Government and local communities\, coupled with the rich and vibrant history of Llandudno\, means that the town is the ideal choice to make the event even more successful in 2018.” \nSecretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns said: \n“I’m delighted that the national Armed Forces Day event will return to Wales in 2018. This time next year\, we will see veterans of wars gone by and soldiers serving in conflicts around the world today marching side by side in Llandudno\, united in pride in service to their country. \n“In Wales we have a special connection with our Armed Forces and this annual event gives the public an opportunity to show their appreciation and pride for our soldiers\, sailors and air personnel who sacrifice so much for others. \n“Our debt of gratitude also extends to the families they leave behind and the veterans past and present who have dedicated years of their lives to service. I am honoured to mark Armed Forces Day today – and in the years to come – in their company.” \nCouncillor Gareth Jones\, Leader of Conwy County Borough Council\, said: \n“We are proud and privileged to be named as the Host of the National Armed Forces Day in 2018. \n“Conwy County has a deep affiliation with the Armed Forces and a strong historical link. Llandudno will be a great destination to showcase the outstanding work of the Armed Forces past and present. \n“The event will be supported by all the North Wales Councils and key colleagues across Wales. Serving personnel and veterans of our Armed Forces Community will be assured of a very warm welcome and an event that thanks them for their commitment to keeping the country safe.” \nNorth Wales has many current and historic links to the Armed Forces\, including and many Regular and Reserve Army units. Many North Walians are proud to serve in the Royal Welsh and nearby RAF Valley on Anglesey is home to a fast jet training base. Nearly 10\,000 veterans live in Conwy\, supported by a number of local and national charities. \nMore details of the programme of events will be revealed in the coming months

DESCRIPTION:Prom Ally is a charity which is dedicated to donating prom dresses to girls who can’t afford them. In order to raise funds. Ally\, the charity manager is personally climbing the highest mountain in the UK. You can choose to join her\, in a prom dress or without. \n  \n\nProm Ally is a small charity that I set up using my 21st birthday money. It helps young people who’s families may be in financial difficulty with a prom outfit for their special night! \nWe’re going to be climbing Snowdon wearing prom dresses to raise money in order to keep Prom Ally running to make sure no one misses out on their school Prom due to their financial situation . \nAfter 4 years of running Prom Ally wholly on my own\, I’m beginning to struggle funding it. My storage area (in my Nan’s house) is full and I can’t afford to put any more of my own money into it to pay for more storage. I’ve even cut down to part-time to have more hours to focus on my charity which isn’t leaving my personal bank account very healthy! DESCRIPTION:ULTRA-TRAIL SNOWDONIA\n  \nUTS-50 \nBoth 50 and 100 runners begin this course with a gentle ascent up the Maesgwm valley\, before heading north to Moel Eilio. A gradual runnable descent follows\, to the Tafarn Brew Pub\, but don’t be tempted to hang around for a pint! The trail then covers scenic moorland ground\, climbing gradually to the top of the highly underrated Mynydd-Mawr\, before a stunning descent to Beddgelert forest\, with spectacular views of the west side of the Snowdon range on the horizon. After a brief stop at the Ranger Youth Hostel\, runner’s ascent and descend Snowdon via the classic Ranger and Rhyd-Ddu paths\, how could I leave these out?! Leaving Rhyd-Ddu\, the trail follows the Paddy Buckley Round to Moel Hebog\, traversing technical ridges and epic climbs. A technical descent to Beddgelert leads runners to the next aid station\, before a pleasant jog alongside Glaslyn River. Following a short road section\, it’s back to business with a long slog up to the characterful Cnicht\, before a possible slippery descent back to Nant Gwynant Café\, my favourite in Wales! Take time to gather yourself as another long ascent of the Snowdon massif follows\, then taking a right to cover the jagged peak of Y Lliwedd before descending to the final aid station at Llyn Llydaw. From here you’re homeward-bound\, ascending Snowdon one final time\, via the miners track\, before plummeting/shuffling back to the finish and Race HQ via the Llanberis path. Upon arrival\, you will be met with a rapturous applause\, hot food\, beer and 7 days of acute inflammation\, which will surely subside along with any negative memories of what you have just accomplished. You’ll be back for more… \nUTS 100 \nThe 100 route begins with a leisurely ascent of Snowdon via the Llanberis path\, before descending via the Pyg track to the Pen-Y-Pass YHA hostel. From here\, runners descend the scenic northern Nant Gwynant valley before heading east to the quiet valley of Dolwyddelan. Now due north\, a technical scramble up Moel Siabod and a long descent to Plas-Y-Brenin\, hot food and shelter awaits! The next section up to and around Llyn Cowlyd is a real gem of the route\, traversing beautiful woodland and lakeshore trails. From here\, runners traverse the lower Carneddau. Wide open scenery and ridges await\, before a technical descent to the Glan Dena climbers hut in Ogwen. A brief detour around the iconic Tryfan and up onto the Glyders\, runners cover some of the more technical ground on the course\, before descending back down to the Ogwen valley via the legendary Devils Kitchen trail\, skirting the picturesque Llyn Idwal. Leaving the comforts of Idwal cottage behind\, runners now ascend the trail leading up to Y Garn\, with stunning views over the ground covered so far\, it’s a personal favourite of mine! Undulating running to Elidir Fawr follows\, before an interesting descent through the quarries\, followed by a final section skirting Llyn Padarn before arriving back at Race HQ to start the second 50-mile loop\, also the 50-mile race route. \n
